Peekaboo

Isaac had his 7th grade physical and Charlie got another chance to play peekaboo in the cupboard and this time I remembered to take a photo or two.

"Peeaboo" is what she's about to say. (She can't say her 'k's.)
Then my youngest sister, Marie, sent me this photo....

Which inspired me to do this....

I'm not very crafty but with Hobby Lobby's help I can get just the right thing. I love the chevron pattern on the inspirational photo but I decided it might be a bit ambitious for me and I really was looking for something cool and metal so this metal K from Hobby Lobby and sticky numbers was the perfect solution. So here's a photo of the blank house front.

     And here's a photo with the K.
I love it.
I actually do have a house project that we're in the midst of but I'm going to save sharing it for later when I can show the before and after all in one post. What should have been a relatively easy project has turned into something a LOT more extensive! Maybe next Saturday but I'm not promising anything.

Official Valentine's Day

So for the past few years we've celebrated Valentines Day as a family with a candle light dinner and this year was no exception. However this year Kayli bailed on us and did her own thing with a girlfriend from work so we replaced her with Isaac's good friend, Lance.
This years dinner was pretty basic but the highlight was definitely the yummy slush. So we had chicken roll ups, green beans and slush. For dessert, nothing, but they did enjoy a fire out back where they roasted starburst candies.
That is the top of Brock's head peaking out behind me.
Lance and Isaac had their own set up.

And then to my surprise Greg and the boys had a treat for me.
I think this is enough chocolate to last me a little while. (Photo bomb Isaac.)
Greg and I also treated ourselves to upgraded cellphones and a couple other tech savvy gifts. One of the cool devices we picked up while at the Verizon store is this cool little thing....

This is a Gizmopal and for $5 bucks a month this little device is going to be a lifesaver. This has gps and can make phone calls to 'mom' and 'dad's' phone and can be called by mom and dad. So as long as we remember to put it on the right kid before they leave the house we'll be able to communicate with them wherever they are and if for some reason they take it off or lose it we'll be able to use the gps tracker on our phones to find it. I only wish they'd come out with these years ago. Can you imagine if I'd had this when Brock wandered off with the dog or anytime McClane's been outside without supervision and made his way to the park. Anyway, I'm pretty excited about it.
       Then I took these photos...

She's looking pretty cute in my vintage dress. I only wish I had a photo of me wearing it 38+ years ago to compare with it.
Well that's about it. I didn't take any other photos from our week. Charlie did have her 18 month checkup with the doctor and got her final immunization, at least 'final' until she's ready for kindergarten. She was really good at the doctors and was cute playing peekaboo in the cupboard in the doctors office but unfortunately I didn't think to take a photo. And the rest of our week has been pretty basic. Maybe next week I'll have some home improvements to share but don't hold your breath.

Sixth grade Valentine dance and a HUGE mistake

Today Isaac had his sixth-grade Valentine dance. It's kind of a right of passage in this area. They spend weeks learning different dances and then this is their opportunity to perform and show off to their parents. Isaac had a pretty good time. Here are a few photos from the big day.
What a handsome devil.
Isaac with our cute neighbor, Alex.
Isaac and his "crush" Kimber.
Isaac doing a little line dancing.
Isaac and a girl who is NOT his crush.
Isaac and me.
Isaac and Sadie (The girl I think he should have a crush on.)
And the cutest part of the dance was this.....
Our cute neighbor, Sydney didn't have her dad there for the very first dance so she asked Greg.
Greg was a little freaked out and nervous but he survived!
And now to the HUGE mistake! I CUT 6 INCHES OF MY HAIR OFF!!! (And I am shouting this.) What was I thinking?! I was wanting a change but I took things too far. Now I have to clarify, the cut itself is great, my cousin Jessica did a great job I however am not CUT out for short hair. Here's a before photo.
Sorry, I rarely wear my hair completely down so this is a real accurate photo of my normal look.
And this is now ... (and just be aware I've had it clipped up all day so this isn't really fixed or anything.)
You may have seen the photo taken with my cousin Jessica on Instagram or Facebook and that isn't a flattering look at all and overall I'm really not good with short hair. Never AGAIN!! My hair can't grow fast enough and for now this....

will be my regular hairstyle, clipped up hiding the fact that it's too short for my liking.
And not to leave our little princess out, this is a cute photo of her wearing a cute dress we got from her cousin Kari.
She's so CUTE!

Weekly photo drop

Just a few random photos from the week.
I love these mountains!!
McClane has been in some weird sleep habits.
If your roommate is sleeping on the couch, you join him.
Right now Charlie is my little buddy.
She rarely leaves me alone.
And even though she's been a little sickly recently I can never turn down her kisses. And she's learned to pucker up anytime she's in trouble, which just proves she's a genius because it's very hard to stay mad at her kissy face.
She will kiss me over and over until she's sure she's in my good graces again.
And this was McClane's lunch request the other day, soda, broccoli and eggs.
Definitely his father's son.
And this was the highlight of Kayli's week.
This is one way to write a love note.
A cute boy at work thinks she's beautiful!
(Oh to be a teenager again, new car, flirting with boys, and nearly done with high school!)

So that's our week in a nutshell.
